Mental/Self Care during a Pandemic

Self-care and Mental care have been a hot topic during this difficult time our world is experiencing and it is super important to take the time to make sure you are doing okay on the inside and the outside. Self-care is more than just making sure you look and feel good on the outside but it can deeply affect the way you feel on the inside. And mental health is is extremely important in how we go about living our daily lives and how we treat others and ourselves. I am a firm believer that we cannot love others if we cannot love ourselves first. Never feel ashamed or that you are worth less because you need to take care of yourself first, and hey it's okay to take a mental health day too! I have come up with a few ways to help keep your mental and self-care up and running smoothly during this weird time. Enjoy!

Spa Day!- get yourself a bubble bath ready, light some candles, and watch your favorite show. You can also do a face mask, a massage, self-tan, mani/pedi. Really anything to pamper yourself!

Yoga/Workout- Yoga is super relaxing and stretching out your body can be really healing for your whole body, even your mind! Working out is a great way to feel productive and a good sweat never killed nobody! Going out for a walk in the sun does wonder too!

Reading- I know a lot of people including myself do not have time to sit down a read a book with the usual craziness of life but, since we all have a lot of time on our hands I'm sure there is something you want to read out there, and of course, I've got suggestions for you duh! So far I have read "Where the Crawdads Sing" (8/10 kinda slow but good), I just started "The Silent Patient", I'm about halfway but so far 9/10 go read it. I'll do a book review post soon!

Get ready- By getting ready I mean go do your makeup full glam or natural whatever you may be feeling do your hair, and put on that cute outfit that's hanging up in your closet. This can really boost your self-esteem and your mindset, even though it's hard to go places just get dressed up, dress for you!

Journaling/Writing- Writing down your thoughts can ease whatever chaos is going in your brain and can make you feel like you can get up and take the next step. It can be really organizing as well when so much is going on in life. And don't worry it doesn't have to be too serious, make it however you feel comfortable.

Sleep- Sleep has proven to be really healing for the body and is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. It also eases your mind, it's always good to give your brain rest with everything going on inside it. I know a lot of us are probably sleeping in more and all but there's no shame in resting for yourself.

Watch a show/movie- Watching your favorite show or movie is always nice. There's nothing like watching your favorite characters over again, in a way it feels homie and comforting. On the other hand, start a new show! There are lots to choose from so you can go start a new adventure! I personally love Criminal Minds, Jane the Virgin, Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, Glee, Stranger Things, just to name a few but Netflix is always adding more things to watch!

Social Media Detox Day- Social Media encompasses our world, and I'll be the first to admit that I love it and use just as much as the next person. I know I'm online a lot and social media is a great community of people but sometimes it's overwhelming. A lot goes down on the internet and not all of is all the pretty, the political side, hate comments, and the need to feel perfect online is a lot to deal with. So take a day off social media and forget about the online world for as long as you need. Who knows you may like life without all the socials.

I hope this post gave you a few ideas on how to better yourself and get you in the right headspace. It really is super important that we take care of ourselves and our minds and now more than ever! You won't believe how much better you feel when you put yourself first, you are pretty awesome! Prayers for everyone in this hard time! Take care of YOU!
