Escape the Ordinary

Image
I have always had big dreams and aspirations for my life. The life of working s nine to five in an office building wearing uncomfortable shoes has never been what I saw for myself. I have always wanted to see what the world offers, I just know that there is something spectacular out there that I have yet to see. I have met plenty of people who tell me that I just need to settle down, get a meaningless job, and go on about life because "that is just you do". I feel like I was born to do the unconventional and change up what normal life means. In other words, there has been a pull in my heart to escape the ordinary ways of life and follow my dreams wherever they take me. I think about my dreams and plans every night before I go to bed, they give me butterflies, and one day I know I will achieve all my dreams.      I don't know if you have ever felt a calling deep down in your heart to travel somewhere but I have felt that calling to go to Greece. I wish I could tell y

To Be Read

As a kid, I used to love to read, my mom would take me to the library, and I would have stayed for hours if she'd let me. In elementary I would get so excited to sit on the floor with everyone and have the teacher read to the class. As I got older though I became occupied by other things, school work, friends, dance, social media, really anything other than reading. For a time I even decided I didn't like to read anymore, but deep down I still did and longed for a time when I would be able to sit down and read again. The only books I was reading were books I was forced to read for school, they were all boring though. I got to thinking and decided if I am going to be stuck in quarantine during a pandemic for honestly who knows how long I might as well get back to my roots and read some good books. They are so many books out there to choose from and the list in my head is getting way too long for me to keep up with. Here is my To Be Read list as well as a couple Book Reviews for

Mental/Self Care during a Pandemic

Image
Self-care and Mental care have been a hot topic during this difficult time our world is experiencing and it is super important to take the time to make sure you are doing okay on the inside and the outside. Self-care is more than just making sure you look and feel good on the outside but it can deeply affect the way you feel on the inside. And mental health is is extremely important in how we go about living our daily lives and how we treat others and ourselves. I am a firm believer that we cannot love others if we cannot love ourselves first. Never feel ashamed or that you are worth less because you need to take care of yourself first, and hey it's okay to take a mental health day too! I have come up with a few ways to help keep your mental and self-care up and running smoothly during this weird time. Enjoy!  Spa Day!- get yourself a bubble bath ready, light some candles, and watch your favorite show. You can also do a face mask, a massage, self-tan, mani/pedi. Really anything to

Quarantine Entertainment!

First of all this Coronavirus thing is absolutely crazy! Praying for everyone and their families! Stay inside and wash your hands!  Alright if I'm being totally honest I am starting to lose my mind staying in my house and I am running out of things to do! There are only so many things I can do to keep myself entertained and since we don't know when this will end we have to keep pushing every day and keep going. A lot of people have put life on pause but I am ready to play so let's go! I am here to inspire us all with some quarantine activities to keep you busy and so your day doesn't seem like three days in one...trust me I've been there. So here are 10 things to do during quarantine!  A puzzle- I love doing puzzles and there is no better time than quarantine lol. I've already done 5 puzzles and I'm working on the 6th. Do I feel like an 80-year-old woman, sure, but it keeps my brain going and I am entertained! I personally love the Thomas Kinkade Dis

Toxic People can Destroy your Life

I hadn't come across very many toxic people in my life up until a couple of months ago. Without diving too much into detail about the situation my Dad had to leave his job because of toxic people. The toxic person turned into a toxic group of people really quick. These were people I had known for years and thought were close friends of my family and supported us. They would smile and strike up a conversation as I walked by but there was so much more going on behind the scenes that I never knew. Toxic people can destroy your life in a matter of seconds and rip whatever ground you were standing on, right out from under you. They made my Dad and our family out to be monsters in situations that were the opposite of malicious. It was a drama-filled volcano waiting to explode, full of adults who couldn't leave their high school drama days behind them and unfortunately, the floor we were standing on was lava. Toxic people are the best at hiding deep in the shadows and often are hiding

Dorm Room Essentials: What you actually need for college life

Image
Well, well, well, I'm back people! College got super busy really quick and I went through a time of just not wanting to post anything. College has been a journey so far, full of many many ups and downs. I was lonely for a long time and didn't want to even think about posting anything or be inspirational. But I finally feel like I'm at a place where I can post with a happy heart and mind and I'm feeling so much better about life recently! So I'll try to get back on a semi-regular posting schedule (not promising lol), So with that out of the way lets talk about the things you really need in your dorm. Your dorm room is your little home away from home and there's some things you definitely want to have and some things you don't. Most of the time the room is going to be pretty small so maximizing the space is the key goal. I know that when I was planning my dorm room just a few short months ago I looked at tons of blog posts to see what to bring because I didn&#

Surviving Freshman College Move-In Day

Move in, the day you've been talking up for months has finally arrived! I moved in this past week and let me tell you it was an experience...in a good way I promise. Let me tell you a little bit about my college move in day. We pulled up to my dorm and had to search for a parking spot, which was a journey in itself. Once we found a parking spot we started hauling things up to my room which wasn't all that bad considering how much stuff I brought. Not going to lie our room was a bit smaller than we expected but we were determined to make it work. My roommates Dad and my Dad were kind enough to move the furniture around how we wanted so we could maximize what little space we had. After the furniture was situated we began the process of moving things into the room. We started organizing things and decorating, which I was very excited about. It definitely took longer than I expected but we did it all pretty fast. After hours of work we finally finished our tiny house! We took a loo
